Fair enough, but when was it ever different?

The black pit of industrialized Europe gave us impressionist pastel dreams.

There are some exceptions in the history of art...in terms of reflecting the lived reality of most people, but they are just that, exceptions.

Villon's Ballad of the Hanged, Wilfred Owen, Guernica, Delacroix, etc. Breughel...
