Indeed. Wojtek should read the incredibly obsequious letter Bach wrote to the King of Prussia. The complaints about what we now call "commercialism" go back to the early 18th-c. (To some extent to the early 17th-c., but they reach Wojtek's level of complaint by the early 18th.)
