Watching Nick Davies' programme about wikileaks on UK's channel 4 tonight,
and three times now have heard a man who looks like Edna Everage (David
Leigh) and another who looks like an orange left under a sun lamp (Nick
Davies) protest that Julian Assange 'was very weird'. Evidence to the
Guardian journalists of just how weird Assange was included the damning
allegation that he stayed up late on his laptop, and wore a leather jacket.
It probably never occurred to these two that they would have looked pretty
weird to anyone under fifty, who had not been to a private school
(Nottingham High School - Leigh), Oxford University (Davies) or Cambridge U
(Leigh).
Yet more shocking to the Guardian journalists was that Assange wanted to
share his story with other newspapers and TV stations undermining their
'agreement' over (meaning their 'ownership' of) the story, from which
Davies drew the conclusion that the Australian was 'the most dishonest
person he had ever met'. 'The most dishonest person' this lead journalist on
a national newspaper 'had ever met'? Davies never met Tony Blair, or David
Cameron? Or perhaps he thought that they were honest next to Julian Assange?
