You were not wholly wrong. A difficulty the Occupations will run into
eventually is what the military calls an "exit strategy." (This is NOT
a criticism; it's an observation.) Nothing goes on forever. Whatever it
turns out to be, when it happens many will say, "Ah, it failed after
all." That will be just as nonsensical as similar statements after
Wisconsin.
I think, looking back over the last few decades it will be possible to
proclaim:
Well dug, Old Mole.
