Probably because "libertarian socialist" is an already-existing term, and he doesn't want to make it his pet project to propagate a new one?

There's anarchist-communism, which a few of us on the list liked at one time or another, but it implies a specific orientation (around the Organizational Platform of the Libertarian Communists) that I don't know he shares.
