For that matter, Lenin, for most of his career, thought he was building a "Kautskyite" party too. He always considered the German SPD a role model for what a proper socialist party should look like. That was supposed to be the model for a "party of a new type" as opposed to the conspiratorial parties that revolutionaries had previously built in Russia. It was the rather peculiar circumstance of Russia that made it impossible for the Bolsheviks to actually become a Kautskyite party.

Anyway, Angelus got to be a brave man for having a good way to say for Louis Proyect. I once did that on this list several years ago, and I got all kinds of nasty emails from list members.
