No, that wasn't my intent--I'm not sure what you mean exactly--but to oversimplify there's a strong component of 'honor' and 'significance' involved, or was, with signing a mortgage. That aside, I realize I did gloss over the entire racial dynamic here as far as helping (in theory) minorities achieve some sort of socioeconomic equality. My own preference would be that renting be as respectable as buying, and like the song goes, "we can, you know we can..."
