It usually annoys me for two reasons: first, its pervasive evidence-free 
quality. Second, the endogeneity problem: politicians are notorious for 
truly believing whatever it's expedient for them to truly believe, so 
there's always the possibility of reverse causality. (I.e., Obama 
believes X because he must do X, not vice versa.)
