[WS:]  I do not give much credence to arguments that the world will
come to a screeching halt because of an inconsistency in a system of
thought.  That goes for all crisis of capitalism theories.

The question I have for Doug is this - I understand that a few yahoos
in Congress earnestly believe that austerity measures will help the
economy, but how are are they able to impose that belief on the entire
political and business establishment?  There are such pesky things as
facts, after all, and if people start losing a lot of money they tend
to pay attention to them rather than the pronouncements of
ideology-driven zealots, no?
