Speaking of Robin and the right, below is a link to an interview with a `smart' conservative. He's read the book and studied it in some detail, so the interview turns into an actual discussion of the ideas and history:

I came to related conclusions about Strauss. What was great about Strauss was the earily events of his life in Weimar and the intellectual level of his adversaries evoked a high end intellectual reactionary mind. Instead of Burke, he followed Hobbes. Under all the intellectualism was the injured psyche and its revolt against the world.

Anyway what strikes me at the moment is the extraordinarially low order of the actual existing idiots who populate the right. About the only aspect that seems tactically `smart' is to force the election process into a debate on `values' so as not to talk about the dire state of the economy and the brutal fact that the US has just been defeated in two wars. Another interesting development is the completely broken moral of the lower ranks of the military where psychotic breaks and suicide seem to out number combat casualties.

If there is a video of the panel discussion, please post a link.
