The reason I am asking is that it seems a crucial piece of information to understand the Trayvon Martin case. As I see it, it is not about race but rather about connections to the law enforcement apparatus in this country - if you have them (as Zimmermann did, mainly through his father) you can get away with murder, literally. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence of this, but I wonder if there is any statistical evidence as well.
