Though it's not just China - all of the BRICs have been growing fast. At market exchange rates, the BRICs were 4.1% of the world economy 1999, while the US comprised 30% and the EU 28.9%.

The numbers for 2011: EU 25.6%, US 21.5%, BRICs 18.9% (about $13 trillion in output, closing in fast on the US).

The multipolar world is here to stay.
