Since it's rare I get an opportunity to actually agree with Dennis R., can I say I totally identify with this?
Existing at the lower end of precarity has me thinking gloom is a fucking luxury. Instead, most of the time I'm in Jack Kirby-era Marvel Comics "Hulk Smash!" mode.
And strangely, it also means I'm the most optimistic I've ever been since the Seattle/Genoa era. Everyday, the people I encounter regularly everyday tell me the system is irredeemably, irrevocably fucked, and that capitalism should be relegated to its rightful place in the Museum of the Pre-History of Humankind.
It's not that I think we're assured a rosy future; not by a long shot. But I figure if we're headed straight for barbarism, we're going to go down swinging.
Case in point: that austerity-pushing dipshit Sarkozy getting his ass handed to him today. The fact that Angie ends up with egg on her face is just a bonus.
