Is anybody really interested in the technicalities? Seems to me the underlying question is to what extent the Death Star is willing to kick over the facade of legality and diplomatic practice, either in pursuit of Assange (because Assange is seen as more of a menace than one might think) or because they want to do it anyway, just to show little countries that they'll brook no opposition, however trifling (in which case Assange is just the precipitating factor).
