Jordan, except with regard to international comparisons you could not be more wrong. Our violent crime rates are way above other developed nations. As are, more the most part, are our gun ownership rates and the use of guns in violent crimes. But taken longitudinally within the US all crime rates, at least FBI index crimes, have been falling nearly monotone ally since 1980. In that sense we do not have a violent crime problem. You can look this up for yourself in the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Almost none, a statistically insignificant amount, of the fall in the rate of violent crime is statistically caused by private gun ownership.

But I think you'll find that I've written extensively on-list about other subjects, including but not limited to: health insurance, interest rates, the housing bubble, the deficit, the death penalty, public transportation, AIG, "higher" education, unemployment ... ok, that's just since July.

We're not really sure (yet) what The Problem was with Adam Lanza, but if you think there's a "gun problem" then I say "we have a violent crime problem" instead, and you haven't once responded to that. It's really that simple.
