Chomsky isn't agreeing with Ames; Ames is presenting an entirely new approach to the subject. I haven't digested it completely yet -- and I'm not sure he has, either -- but it's an interesting idea that supports neither your Chomsky quote nor anything else you've said on the subject this week.
The nugget that I took from the Ames piece is that "gun control politics" is just a bit player in a larger approach to subverting the political climate. At first glance, it seems a bit X-Files ... and yet, it's hard to ignore the players involved and their motivations.
