No, there is nothing wrong with being a professor, & in the past I've defended professors against attacks by Lou on the Marxism list. In a way I intended it as a compliment: he would have made a great university teacher & scholar. And scholars are fucking important, even many of the dry-as-dust type. But the relationship of a professor to a seminar is rather different from the relationship among activists on the left, and like many (but not all) professors, Lou can't see the difference.

A course in film history taught by Lou would shake the rafters.
