[lbo-talk] ‘College tax’ burdens students, state

It is interesting that most Americans do not consider medical
insurance or college tuition "taxes" . If they were, they would have
to admit that they are paying much higher taxes than Europeans to
obtain the same level of service. It seems that infatuation with the
market makes them blind to the fact that they are being ripped off by
profiteers. It seems that reason why republicans fell free to cut
money on education is that what the so called "median voter" supports
- cutting other services (such as police, prisons or highway
subsidies) or raising taxes would not sail well with the "median
voter."
