Unmediated different to political practice?  Not much.

In an indirect, unmediated sense: understanding capitalism as a historical anomaly comprising a very specific set of social relationships, and arising in a then-relatively insignificant Northwest European backwater, versus understanding capitalism as naturally and inevitably arising from pre-existing forms of social relationships.
