I was going through Jacob Klein's Origins of Algebra and struggling to understand why he followed the ontology of number via Plato and Aristotle (who were not math buffs), rather than the more comprehensive understanding of geometry and its link to logic...

So I Googled Jacob Klein and Leo Strauss and came to this:

Louis P posted (03/06/2011) a q&a between George Anastaplo and Eva Brann about Klein and Strauss at St. John's College. Eva Braun was Klein's translator for Origins.

The answer to my original question went to Baidou which is somewhere and I never finished it which leads to...The answer is Husserl... nevermind. I thought it was fun---well something to do without a tv and no particular interest in the bullshit of the day.
