[lbo-talk] Greece says Goodbye to Democracy

While the socialists supported the austerity measures I do not think the communists did. Many communists and union members were in the streets getting their heads bashed. As I understand it support for talks with the Troika is supported by the socialists the NDP and a farther right party. The communists and a radical left party do not support the government negotiations. Each of those hold about 12 per cent of the vote as I recall. No doubt their electoral support will increase if elections take place in April.

Did you miss the part where the socialists, in league, more or less, with the communists and the unions, implemented the austerity that is brutalizing Greeks? Why should the victims of austerity "naturally" support their primary oppressors?

Indeed. I think he did. The devil's in the details.

At the same time, I gotta say that one hell of a toxic stew brewing in Europe.
