I'm guessing the basic idea is that blogging is compulsive. I think comparing it to the (alleged) death drive is a bit much. But perhaps I am misunderstanding Jodi.

No doubt Doug will clarify matters.

Love your prose rhythms.

Sorry, but I still don’t get it. I am compelled to work, to take a piss at an inopportune moment :-), write code, load and unload dishes, so on. Publish or perish. Put up or shut up. Shit or get off the can. And all paths lead to the grave. What makes blogging different?

Perhaps, though, I should clarify what I mean by the zeroth law. A strange fact noticed by bloggers over the years is that blogs with more frequent posts attract more readers. My guess for the cause of this strange phenomena is twofold: one, a large number of readers do not use a feed reader and are therefore consigned to frequently checking the blog web site for new content, and are bound to get disappointed and abandon the site if most of these checks are fruitless. Two, the Google effect. The more you post, the more the chance of your getting linked to, page-ranked up, and getting visited. Of course not all bloggers might care for visitors, in which case no laws apply!
