It is remarkable how many people still living in my hometown, which is now a sad shell of the reasonably prosperous town it once was, rant and rave about the poor. They will believe any calumny, any rumor, concerning any person allegedly ripping off the social welfare system. One fool thinks that under the new healthcare program, the government is going to give the poor cash money to buy insurance, and naturally, the recipient will use the money for drugs and alcohol and god knows what illicit pleasure.
