I unintentionally  badly misquoted Alan R in my response. I wrote: The key
words here (my emphasis) are, "experts in pretty much any field CAN become
well-versed in the science." I don't think you had to confine this claim to
"experts ...."

In copying and pasting Alan's words, I left off a vital "non-"; In fact he
did NOT confine his remarks to experts. I'll have to rewrite that part of my
original post.
