No one has suggested they are behaving irrationally, only that they have the luxury of attacking and differentiating themselves from each other because there is no need for them to come together, as in the case of those faced with natural disaster, economic collapse, political oppression and other dire circumstances which threaten their lives and livelihoods and can't be overcome individually.
