A telegram arrives at the Kremlin, from Trotsky, addressed to Stalin. An aide reads the telegram and rushes breathlessly to tell Stalin the news. 

"Comrade," he stammers excitedly, "a telegram from Trotsky. He acknowledges his faults." 

"What are you talking about?" replies Stalin, "Read the telegram." 

"Sure, sure," says the aide, "here it is: "You were right. I was wrong. You can have socialism in one country while the rest of the world is in chains. You see comrade, the rift is over; the party is healed." 

"Wait a second," says Stalin, "you're not reading that right. Here give it to me......Ah yes, just as I thought: here's what he wrote: "You were right? I was wrong? You can have socialism in one country while the rest of the world is in chains?"
