Are they ever going to close down Lenin's Mausoleum?  I know that there has been talk of doing that from time to time since 1992.   About Stalin:  His statues/busts have not been on public display for many years. There is not even one at his grave. That's why there are so many of them turning up on eBay and other auction sites. Lenin is still acceptable as statuary apparently. The other Soviet dignatory who has been largely "destatueized" is Felix Zherzhinskiy, the Cheka founder.

El pueblo armado jamas sera aplastado!

Probably not too far from where Stalin lies, since his "demausoleumization".  Mike G

^^^^^ CB: Yes, right up there behind Lenin's tomb.

Did you hear the one about the long lines at Lenin's tomb during the fall of the Soviet Union. People wanted to see Lenin spinning in his grave.

By the way, just last month I ran into a young man, a stranger,  in line at the bank who , for some reason , just spontaneously said to me he just got back from Russia. I don't know if I look like a Leninist or what (smiles). Anyway, he says I just got back from Russia. I immediately said "how's Lenin doing over there in his tomb". He says, "he's still there". and then "Lenin's statues are up all over Russia." I said we had heard his statues were taken down. He said, "No, only Stalin's". ___________________________________ http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/mailman/listinfo/lbo-talk
