All it takes is a law of Congress to change the number of justices on the Supreme Court. But it is the U.S. government and prevailing elites that are "conservative," not just some special branch of the government. The Supreme Court merely offers a convenient curtain behind which Administration & Congress can hide.

Wojtek's speaking of "reforms" is hilarious. Every "reform" of the last 37 or so years has been anti-people. No Court forced Clinton to "end welfare as we know it." No court is generating the continual propaganda aimed at undermining social security; no court is ordering the use of drones in Afghanistan; no court ordered Obama to appeal the decision on indefinite detention.

The Constitution does prevent (except under the most extraordinary circumstances) any sudden shift in policy; thus electing (say) 50 "progressive" Congressman is pointless. By the time more are elected half the original "progressives" will have been defeated or corrupted. And so forth.
