No comrade it is a matter of what is to be done. And the answer is to start thinking like a socialist instead of a capitalist. Concretely, how about restructuring the union along membership friendly lines bottom up instead of top down. And then start restructuring how benefit packages are managed so that at least some money and resources can be more directly socialized.
Think of it as a training and demonstration project. For example, healthcare workers are the healthcare system, right? So they have no problem designing and running a street line health clinics would they? I can assure you the answer is no they would have no problem doing that since they do that for capital. So how about doing that for themselves, the union, and some sector of the under served communities that surround us? Thinking socialism is not hard to accomplish, all it needs is the mere concrete suggestion...
