Very true, but there is also one major difference between those
"old-time" slogans and those proposed by the "post-modern" left. The
former asked for positive steps to be taken - e.g. land distribution
or the creation of a republican government. The latter are mainly
negative - they oppose a positive aspect of reality deemed
unacceptable (oligarchy, corporations, neoliberalism, capitalism,
imperialism, war, etc.) without offering anything tangible in return.
It reminds me of an old Vietnam-era cartoon - a politician addresses
demonstrators holding anti-war signs: "Don't you have more
constructive proposals?"
