[WS:] Absolutely. I switched to Gmail from Yahoo and Outlook because it offered a clean screen without flashy crap (Yahoo) and did not involve constant downloading. And it was pretty good at keeping spam at bay. But right now they have become a big brother who decides what is and what is not for me and other to see.
One thing I really do not understand about IT and software engineering mentality is why do these fuckers think it is important to force people to jump through their hoops by setting certain defaults. It is like coming to my house and rearranging my furniture in what they believe is a "more efficient" way or what "most people want". Arrogance cum "nanny corporation" - plain and simple. How about setting all "smart" features off and leaving only plain text and leaving it to the user to decide which ones should be turned on?
