Yes, I noticed that. But what I hear them saying is that so is Luxembourg and London....and as it turns out...banks in the U.S.

So, I think they're trying to point out that the "move along folks, it's just the idle rich who will be affected by this" story is not quite complete.

It's not exactly a morality play that's unwinding in Cyprus. It seems to be one more demonstration that the neo-libaral regime in the EU is even more destructive and moronic than the one in the U.S.

For some reason, Naked Capitalism is trying to deny that Cyprus was a tax shelter and money laundry. Misha Glenny - who is a serious guy who knows what he's talking about - has a piece in today's FT convincingly arguing that it was. No doubt some innocent parties are getting clipped, but a lot of shitheads are too.
