When asked this question I always say invest conventionally for safety and return and do the right thing with the rest of your life. It's impossible to keep your hands clean in a dirty world. Besides, the "ethical" stuff all depends on the nasty stuff. Those socially screened portfolios that exclude oil and weapons still depend on oil and weapons.
