Jordan: "Are you more concerned about a street thug than by a fleet of corporate lawyers?"

[WS:] I see the two as pretty much similar to each other, the main difference being access to different resources. And by violent individuals I did not mean only street thugs but men of all classes and political persuasions. The "constant violence of capitalism" as you put it, trickles down from the ruling elites to street thugs and creates the culture in which violence, competitiveness, and anti-social psychopathy are seen as virtues rather than vices. I think it is pretty much a given, at least on this list. However, this "constant violence of capitalism" and the culture it creates does not affect everyone equally. While some are its willing executioners, others seem to be less affected by it. So while there is not much I personally can do about the constant violence of capitalism, there is something I can do how this affects my everyday life. Specifically, I am trying to avoid the willing executioners of this violence and try to hang out with those less affected. In my experience the latter tend to be the female folk, statistically speaking.

As I said it before, I do not particularly care about individual gun ownership in the US or elsewhere. Never had a desire to have one and I do not even know if people I know have them or not. I do not care one way or the other. It is a non- issue to me. However, many people I tried to avoid in my life were vocal supporters of gun ownership, but they were also raging right wingers, macho assholes, bigots, and competitive, aggressive, or spiteful individuals. It is those folks and their views and attitudes that I detest, not what they own.
