It's worse than that. I don't empathize that the people who are sitting down at "my" table were once, only an hour ago, standing at the door, just like I am now. And soon, there will be someone standing at the door waiting for "their" table, at which I am leisurely enjoying my dessert.
It's not impatience; it's selfishness.
