Doug "I was persuaded by Gilbert Achcar's argument that a little NATO bombing might be to the good in Libya, but I don't think things turned out so well. I'm back to thinking that nothing good can come when delivered by B-52s and Tomahawk missiles."

Indeed.

For residents of the U.S. Knee-jerk anti-imperialism is a vital premise for considering all news from the rest of the world.

I can't think of a single action abroad of the U.S. since the surrender of Germany in 1945 that has not been a disaster for the world -- and particularly for the people of any nation "helped" by the U.S.

Carrol

P.S. I am serious about "knee-jerk" anti-imperialism, including indifference to the analysis upon which that sort of anti-imperialism is grounded. What counts is the superficial reacton.
