Caudwell doesn't say the words or names endure forever, just longer than their referent.

How much longer do the names last relative to their referent? Does he have a decision procedure to adjudicate conflicting claims given the staggering amount of work that’s been done on reference and meaning in the 20th century and continuing ‘into’ the present?
