Because as a person on medicaid I sometimes have to fax forms that are not online. By the time I buy a scanner and a color printer a multfunction machine costs about the same.

$200 for the bottom end. Injet Fax printer scanners cost around $100. And I print less than 300 color sheets per year. So that extra 100 dollars will take a long time to pay for itself. Also, if I used a faxmail service I'd still need a scanner. A scanner with document feeder is at least $50. So I'm getting an (OK) injet color printer for $50.
