Naiman is an habitual red-baiter. Earnest liberal, but vicious when it comes to the left. Believes in the "little bit of good" theory of politics. Like a colleague of mine who said that he loved Bill Clinton because he'd make any compromise to do a little bit of good. Best to ignore Naiman. When labor writers and unions (Dave Zirin and the National Writers Union, for example) were asking that we boycott Huffington Post, he justified his own scabbing by saying that there was legitimate disagreement among “labor folks” about the Huffington Post boycott and that “labor folks” like Dean Baker, Robert Reich, and Jared Bernstein were not honoring the virtual picket line around the newspaper. Besides, he said, this isn’t a strike or boycott called by the workers at Huffington Post, the implication being that this isn’t really a labor dispute whose picket line must be honored. (the last two sentences from "he justified"are from a blog post of mine titles "Scabbing for the Huffington Post." Notice the "labor folks" he mentions. And notice the use of Obama's "folks." Naiman's rebuttal here is as pathetic as his red-baiting on this and the pen-l list.
