>From Portside:

****Commentator George Monbiot writes <http://www.theguardian.com/environment/georgemonbiot/2015/dec/12/paris-climate-deal-governments-fossil-fuels> Saturday of the draft agreement, "By comparison to what it could have been, it’s a miracle. By comparison to what it should have been, it’s a disaster." Greenpeace International executive director Kumi Naidoo's take at the end of the talks was that the agreement marks "only one step on long a road, and there are parts of it that frustrate and disappoint me, but it is progress.**** <https://portside.org/2015-12-12/historic-climate-deal-reached-campaigners-say-work-just-beginning>

In other words, nothing happened. The image of "steps along a road" is the center-piece of crackpot realism.

P.S. Hail and Farewell

1) "Progress" is the myth that generates crass opportunism

2) Only action persuades. Arguments work only as propaganda, not agitation: they never reach new people.

3) Elections count only as a Movement nears its end. Electoral work blocks the _beginning_ of any movement.
