Yussuff’s remarks are damaging to Mulcair on the eve of the party convention, and a conspicuous departure from the support of the CLC’s affiliates for the NDP leader.
The NDP is not immune to the generalized crisis of the trade union supported left-centre parties, but even if Mulcair is improbably forced to resign, there aren’t any potential left-wing challengers to the conservative leadership and party bureaucracy comparable to Jeremy Corbyn or Bernie Sanders.
