While much attention is directed at the threat to the planet resulting from climate change, yesterday’s New York Times reports on the equally destructive potential of the renewed nuclear arms race between the US, Russia, and China. 

The suggestion is that the three powers bear equal responsibility for the military buildup, with only scant acknowledgement that it the US which has encircled Russia and China and has embarked on the development of a new generation  of smaller, faster, more precise atomic weapons estimated to cost more than a trillion dollars over three decades.
