Closely cognate or synonymous to "Great" are "Gross," "Grand," "Big," 'Humungous," "Huge." The general idea of all of them as applied to a nation, especially "Great," is IMPERIAL. And in that sense, of course, 'America" has always been "Great," never more so than now. But it never, ever, has been "Good." And that is the only thing real radicals and populists want their country to become.
