I have never been able to get over my amazement at what you might call the Imperial Left, or the Interventionist Left. Because this dream of the benign use of imperial power against 'tyrants' -- itself a childish, cartoonish category -- is not confined to mere liberals; it's often found among people whose very underwear is made from superannuated Red flags. It's as if these Supercommies were mentally elbowing their way toward the controls of the Death Star.
I could name names, but that phrase has a disagreeable ring.
