The standard recent biography is that of Ian Kershaw’s 2 volumes, but its more than a biography, its more like life and times. There are also a series of BBC documentaries on the 3rd Reich which he was the main historical consultant.

There is also the work of Richard J Evans, who I suspect is a left social democrat, who has written a 3 volume study of the 3rd Reich.
