The right-wing Republican intellectuals are saying openly what the Republican politicians can only mutter privately for fear of being dumped by Trump’s admiring Republican base - that Trump is “emotionally and intellectually incapable” of being President.

The Republican elites are repelled by Trump’s boorishness, but also and mainly that his ineptness is jeopardizing the golden opportunity presented by Republican control of all three branches of government to gut social programs and redirect the savings into tax reductions for the corporations and the wealthy.
