A Reuters investigation has documented 1,005 incidents in the United States since the early 2000’s in which people have died after police attacked them with Tasers. Industry and police sources have consistently and greatly understated the death toll from the stun guns.

Not surprisingly, “many of the casualties are among society’s vulnerable”, with a quarter of those killed suffering from a mental health breakdown or neurological disorder. “In nine of every 10 incidents, the deceased was unarmed”, according to the report.
