Not news, but an update on how Vietnam is following the well trodden path of revolutionary anticapitalist states forced to capitulate to the immense pressures of a triumphant global capitalism. State ownership and planning are being abandoned, social benefits are being slashed, inequality is widening, and the country’s labour and natural resources have been thrown open to foreign firms, notably Samsung, the giant electronics manufacturer.
