US printing money to get out of debt

It is the Federal Reserve that controls the supply of money, not the US. The Feds are a private corporation, chartered by Congress it is true, but a private corporation whose members are the major banks and some US appointees. I forget the breakdown.

So, no, the US cannot print money to inflate its way out of debt, in spite of the fact that that is a popular belief.
