I don't see how leftists can be against gun control. Even if the "objective conditions" become really bad, the left as it is in the U.S. would be ridiculously outgunned by the army and national guards.

Please forgive the preachy tone, but if a crash does occur we should consider what to do on the Day After, besides saying "I told you so." If a depression does set in, we can expect misery courtesy of Clinton's fraying of the safety net. And we can expect the right rolling up its sleeves and getting down to work.

I'm waiting for the mainstream article that suggests one should invest in welfare/workfare service and prison service companies as alternatives to Treasurys. Other hot investment areas: Rent-to-own furniture companies, check cashing companies, and anything else that preys off the poor.

Re: Mexico. Halloween '94 I went party hopping dressed as subcommandante Marcos and no one had a clue who I was supposed to be. I did have a few sloshed Irish-Americans clap me on the back, muttering "IRA, right?" Granted, maybe I was attending the wrong parties, but I still think we have a little ways to go in the "subjective" sphere.
